Archos Site Explanation

If your viewing this page, then you've most likely seen the Archos Media Portal. This page is a quick explanation for it.

Archos 5/7 Demo Internet Portal: The page may not appear correctly unless viewed through an Opera browser or on the Archos Internet Browser.

This project is currently a collaborative effort with TedM

Introduction:

I own an Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet, and although bookmarks are an easy way to get to the sites I frequent most, I got annoyed that I had to manually go into my bookmarks and select which site I wanted to go to. As far as I know, there's also no way to open a new tab from a bookmark, which is possible on a normal site by holding the link down. So I created a custom site/homepage for my Archos, which can be used as a quick way to jump between sites.

Custom Sites:

As seen on the demo site, the whole site is extremely customizable. The tabs, color scheme, and icons/links can be changed to whatever is wanted, and a specific page for each individual user can be created. An example used is the uTorrent WebUI, which allows users to remotely log into their uTorrent controls from anywhere, and change settings or start downloading a new torrent, in which a unique link is needed per person to log into their specific computer. Another example is the "Projects" tab, which users can put any links that they are currently using for a project, such as a wiki, or a forum.

The files are free to download here, so if you have a domain, you can upload it and configure it yourself.
